Kolonne Null

The shared enthusiasm for wine and enjoyment, the surprise at the lack of high-quality, non-alcoholic food companions and the desire to create a product that fits a conscious but at the same time refined and stylish lifestyle, formed the basis for Kolonne Null in 2018.

Founders Philipp Rößle and Moritz Zyrewitz, who have known each other since college, faced the challenge of convincing people to buy a completely new product. Until until then, no one believed in high-quality, alcohol-free wines; the market simply did not exist yet. The friends held wine tastings with the then already available non-alcoholic wines among their friends and explored winemakers, wineries and specialists in the process of dealcoholisation all over the world.

In the summer of 2018, they produced the first wine in co-production with a small winery from Lower Austria, which they initially distributed through weekly markets and wine shops. Because the subject was so appealing and the customers were surprisingly positive, there was shortly after the first major production together with a recognised winery, member of the Association of German Quality Winemakers.

Since then they have been traveling the world of wine, learning new things every day and building probably the most specialized non-alcoholic wine company in Europe. The in-house wine lab is in constant dialogue with partner winemakers and research institutions to regularly raise the bar of what is achievable. They have evolved from industry newcomers to industry leaders. With the development of a laboratory and various research partnerships, they are getting better at understanding the key drivers of the company, more accurate, more focused and also more selective in choosing their partners - along the entire value chain from the vine to the printed shipping box.

What makes Kolonne Null so special is that the aim is to bring the characteristics of the growing area, the grape and the winemakers into the bottle, so that the story of each wine is told transparently. Closely associated with the highest standards of quality and perfection for the product and for themselves.

Where is the journey heading? In contrast to 2018, the work is already starting in the vineyard. Even before the harvest, they discuss with the winemakers how they want to develop the wine in question. However, Kolonne Null believes that the ultimate added value can only be achieved through its own production and the associated representative head office. In addition, they are planning a vineyard in the Havelland region of Brandenburg, where the boldest and at the same time bravest international winemakers will work together with Kolonne Null to take non-alcoholic wine to an even higher level.
